How to Choose Men's Trousers and Office Shirt Sizes by Body Shape

12/10/2026 · ADQ

1. Three measurements to know when buying dress trousers

  • Waist: measure across the navel, keeping the tape snug but not tight.
  • Hips: measure at the fullest part of the hips.
  • Pant length: lay a well-fitting pair of pants flat, and measure from the crotch seam down to the hem.

Men's dress trousers are usually sized by waist measurement. Tip: measure in the afternoon or evening when your body is naturally relaxed, so the trousers won't feel tight when worn all day.

2. Which fit should slim men choose?

  • Choose slim fit or a lightly tailored regular fit; avoid excessively baggy cuts that make your frame look even thinner.
  • Prioritize structured fabrics; avoid overly soft, draping materials.
  • Tuck your shirt in for a more balanced body proportion.

3. How should men with a larger belly choose dress trousers?

  • Choose regular fit, avoiding tight slim fits.
  • Medium-rise waistbands; low-rise styles make the belly more prominent.
  • Dark tones (black, charcoal grey, navy) help you look slimmer.

4. Are fitted or loose shirts more attractive?

  • There is no absolute best fit – it depends on your build. Slim and tall men suit slim fit to avoid excess fabric; stockier men suit regular fit to avoid restriction. Avoid both extremes: too tight causes discomfort, too loose looks sloppy.

Quick check: the shoulder seam should align with your shoulder point, extending no more than 1–2 cm past each side.

5. Look up size by height and weight

View the size chart for each brand in the Size Guide, or ask ADQ ASSISTANT in the corner of the screen: enter your height and weight for personalized size recommendations for each item.
